The American Medical Student Association at American River College Pre-med Chapter was chartered in February 2002. AMSA ARC is one of only five pre-medical chapters at the community college level in Region 10 that is recognized and charted by National AMSA. During the past 8 years AMSA ARC has been active in the local Sacramento region in promoting awareness about the medicine and community service.

AMSA ARC has co-coordinated two Health Fairs for the Native American community at the annual UC Davis POW WOW. AMSA ARC is also active in tutoring in reading, math, and science to elementary school children at Deterding Elementary School in Carmichael. Lastly AMSA ARC has done community projects with the Habitat for Humanity Sacramento chapter in the past year. On September 13, 2003 AMSA ARC hosted the first pre-medical conference ever held at a community college.
